Travelling to Hereford

By Air

To travel by air from Scotland or beyond to Hereford, you would typically fly into one of the nearest major airports such as Bristol or Birmingham, as Hereford itself does not have an airport. From Scotland you can fly from the major cities such as Glasgow and Edinburgh to either of these airports. Once you arrive, you can take a train or rent a car to complete the journey to Hereford, which is about 1.5hrs from Bristol and 1hr from Birmingham.

By Road

Travelling by road to Hereford is straigtforward and scenic. From Scotland, you can take the M74 South to the M6 and M5 taking exit 7 towards Worcester and then following signs for Hereford. From Cardiff you can take the M4 until exit 24 for M50 taking the A4137 exit and following signs for Hereford. Those travelling from Bristol airport should take the M32, M4 and A49. From Birmingham you can take the M5 and A4103. All routes pass through scenic countryside with plenty of opportunities to stop at quaint villages or towns along the way.

By Rail

Travelling to Hereford by rail is convenient as the station is centrally located and easy to access from the city centre and the surrounding areas. Direct trains are available from Bristol and Birmingham via Great Western Railway or West Midland Trains and take between 1-2hrs. Rail travel from Cardiff is also direct and regular.
